Botanical Name: Symphytum officinalis
Plant Part: Dried Leaf
Status: Certified Organic
Place of Origin: Australia
Description:
The impressive wound healing properties are partly due to the presence of allantoin which encourage bone, cartilage and muscle cells to grow. Use externally to speed wound healing and guard against scar tissue forming incorrectly. Care should be taken with very deep wounds as the external application can lead to tissue forming over the wound before it is healed deeper down. Use as a poultice or compress for external ulcers, fractures, varicose ulcers; use as a cream or infused oil for bone and muscle damage including osteoarthritis, arthritic joints, bruises, sprains, bunions; use a paste of the powdered root and water in a poultice for bleeding hemorrhoids; use internally for gastric and duodenal ulcers, hiatus hernia, ulcerative colitis, bronchitis and irritable cough.
