Description
Traditionally, Iceland moss was considered a galactagogue and to have a strong antibiotic, antiemetic, demulcent and nutritive properties.
Understood to have both a bitter tonic action and a demulcent effect within the gut, these complementary actions earned it a revered place in traditional Chinese medicine. It was also an ancient herbal cough remedy, thanks to its soothing effect on mucous membranes in the respiratory system.
