Chicory root, aside from providing flavour, is an incredible source of dietary fibre.
In fact, nearly 65% of raw chicory root by weight is fibre. Chicory root is extremely high in inulin, an important prebiotic that is also found in bananas and this makes it a wonderful source of fuel for healthy gut bacteria.
Chicory is often used as an ingredient in common food products to add inulin and fibre. Actions: laxative, sedative, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antibacterial.
