Description
A bitter, tannin rich berry found to be a diuretic, astringent, and anti-inflammatory.
Sloe berries are native to Europe, Western asian and North Africa although the history appears rooted in the United Kingdom having been found around the 13th century in Dublin. They are bitter and astringent thanks to the tannins, phenolic acids and flavonoids which is what makes them an excellent remedy for stopping dirrahea. Traditionally the Sloe flowers were used for their mildly laxative properties relieving constipation, and regulating digestion.
Sloe gin, on the other hand is a crimson red gin made by the British by steeping Sloe berries, sugar and gin, creating a sweet liqueur with a high alcohol content. The british also had other uses for this berry,
