Description
Sometimes known as "Butterfly Weed", pleurisy root is a variety of milkweed native to North America, great for attracting butterflies and other beneficial insects into the garden.
Much of the plant is edible, but the dried root is considered the most medicinal. As its name suggests, it's commonly used to treat bronchitis, pleurisy and pneumonia, helping to loosen chest mucous and induce sweating. It has also been used topically to remove warts. Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
