Description
Also known as Sweet Violet, this small perennial plant is easily recognized by its sweetly-scented lilac flowers and heart-shaped leaves.
Violets are a rich source of vitamins A and C. They also contain a type of antioxidant called anthocyanin - responsible for their brilliant blue/purple hue. Dried violet flowers and leaves are made into syrups, tonics and teas, and can also used to make poultices, or tinctured for use in topical ointments and salves.
